My Collection

The M&M Museum

I have an 8' x 14' room in my house that I call the "M&M Museum". It is devoted exclusively to my collection. Many hours of painting and shelf assembly went into preparing the room.  And, naturally, I am already out of space!

The pictures to the right were taken September 2000. You can see close-ups by clicking the links under the pictures to the right. (Because the collection only includes items made before 2000, the collection still looks pretty much as shown in these pictures.)

Where Did You Get All Those Things?

One of the first things people say upon visiting the museum is, "I had no idea there were so many M&M things - where did you get everything?".

In the early years, M&M things were rather scarce and were primarily available from order forms found in drugs stores.

Then M&M/Mars started making some items available in stores (primarily holiday candy tins and cardboard tubes of candy with plastic toy "toppers" on them). Some other items became available through school fund raisers.

Now M&M collecting has become very popular and M&M things can be found all over the place: in stores, in catalogs, on eBay, and, of course at the "M&Ms World" stores in Las Vegas" and New York City.

Finding Old Things

To find the items in my collectiont, I have gone to these places:

*   Yard sales

*   Antiques and collectibles stores and shows

*   Other M&M collectors

*   Internet auctions

I Have Helpers!

My family and friends really enjoyed helping me collect.  One person found me things at yard sales, another collected advertisements and news articles, and several others traveled to Europe for business and bought me things when they were there.

Where Is This Museum?

As I said above, the museum is in my house - but where is that?.  It is in Southern California, about 1/2 hour from Disneyland.  So why don't I collect Mickey Mouse stuff?  Because the M&M guys are much, much cuter!

Is the Museum Open to the Public?

No, not really, but if you are an avid collector and would like to visit, please send me an email: MnMsLady@aol.com.
